2 columns instead of 1 for "recent posts widget"

Hi Guys,
Currently I'm using a widget in my footer section to show 20 posts of a custom post type. However, all 20 posts are beneatch each other. I was wondering if you could help me to range the 20 posts in to 2 rows.

Tricky problem.
Unfortunately there isn't a way to create columns when using recent posts widget as each item actually take up the whole container:

The only feasible solution I can see if to use 4 footer widgets and move the social widget into its own so the height is reduced.
Other than that maybe try reducing the number of posts shown. Normally people don't show that many in footer widgets.
