Updating plugins for localhost

Hi Tom As you know, it is common to develop WP on a local server environment (XAMMP, WAMP etc) before deploying to a live server. What is the best way to update the add-ons? I’m assuming I can’t use auto-update because I am running on localhost/ Regards.
