Oh Tom, you must think I’m an idiot. I was sure that I had deleted all the content in the child style.css but when I checked, sure enough, just as you said, it was there. I’m not sure what I did wrong, but you were absolutely right, as usual. That was the problem. My menu has miraculously reappeared! Hallelujah!
