Katharina
Hi everyone,
this might be a beginner’s mistake.
The layout I use is imported from the site library (but I cannot remember the name — can I get it from somewhere?)
I love the H1-Design, as in this example:
https://geburtsgeschichte.de/kontakt/
I would like to include the same header design on other pages and the blogposts. (For now they look like this: https://geburtsgeschichte.de/inhalte-weiterbildungen/
However there seems to be no way to simply duplicate an existing page hero. So I tried to manually copy it, but something still does not work.
So, here are my questions:
1.) is there an easy way to duplicate page heros?
2.) how can I find out what went wrong when trying to use the same system on other pages?Thank you for your help!

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
if you view this page:
https://geburtsgeschichte.de/kontakt/
In the Admin Bar > Elements – it will list which Elements are being used, including that Page Hero.
If you edit that Page Hero, you can set its Display Rules to include the other pages you want.September 8, 2022 at 8:18 am #2337209Katharina
Hi David,
yes, that works. However, I would like to use different pictures for different sites, that is why I tried to duplicate the page hero and then only change the picture and the sites…
Is that possible?
Thank you!
K

Not for every page, but for some 😉

Hi Katharina,
Would these images be the same as the featured image of these pages? Or, different.
If not, one easy approach is to exclude the pages that would have different page hero images in the Block Element. Then, copy the content of the Block Element – Page Hero, and paste it directly to each page. Then, replace the image in each.

Hi Fernando,
thank you so much for your answer.
I tried copying the content of the Block Element – Page Hero and pasted it directly to the page.
The result is that now it is shown multiple times:
https://geburtsgeschichte.de/deine-impulsfragen/
If I delete the Block Element, the picture is not shown at all.
Oh, I am really stuck here…

To clarify, in the Display rules settings of the Block Element, have you excluded the pages with different images?

Oh, I am not sure… where do I need to look for that? In the site or on the blocks menu?

In the Block Element – Page Hero, the one you opened earlier, at the bottom you’ll find the Display Rules Section.
In there, you can exclude pages you prefer as such: https://share.getcloudapp.com/E0uZqZ77
Once you’ve excluded the pages, there shouldn’t be duplicates anymore.

I did that.
Now the one I want is not displayed and the one I do not want is displayed 😛

Can you provide a link to a sample page which you want to change the image, and another link to a page where you want the image to stay the same?
You may use the Private Information field for this: https://docs.generatepress.com/?s=private+information

I think I found the problem: For some reason, in the site bar of the page backend, it only lists the page hero as active when I use the picture in the text itself. When I delete it, it does not show the page hero as active element any more.

Oh I see. Have you resolved the issue?
September 9, 2022 at 5:17 am #2337902Katharina
Sorry for the delayed reply.
Unfortunately the issue is not resolved.
Now it DOES show the page hero as active element. However, it only shows up if I also insert the container into the page text itself.
